Pandemic Runfessions – Part 7

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five. I’m doubling down and linking up with Marcia for October “Runfessions,” too! Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” [Here’s Pandemic Runfessions, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5 and Part 6 – if you missed them.]

I runfess… On any other Friday before the first Sunday in November, I’d be on my way to NYC for the marathon. This year would have been my 21st running. I’m wistful for the excitement of races, but what I miss and crave is seeing so many friends, the experience and challenge and the ecstatic feeling of having a million people wishing you only well. Until next time, I’m cherishing my memories from last year and the ones from the previous 19 runnings.

I runfess… I didn’t take the option to run NYC virtually – I didn’t even consider it. I think it’s great for people who want to do it. I don’t have it in me. What can I say? I love the crowds and all of the pomp and circumstance. I’m planning to support Lauren in her first virtual NYC for an hour or two on Sunday over the phone. Are you doing a virtual marathon or real life marathon this season?

I runfess… I (finally) launched a set of Chicago running tours with Go! Running Tours. I had a blast testing them with my friends and even had one paid booking already! Not traveling these days? I encourage you to take a running tour in your city. Why? To get outside, learn about your city, visit new neighborhoods, swap local tips and to get a great workout! Through the end of the year, get 30% off running tours in Chicago with code GOCHICAGO30. Go! Running Tours is in 70 cities with more to come. If you want to try your city, let me know and I can ask for a discount code!

I runfess… I’m excited for the cooler weather. I love fall and winter for running outdoors. Need some tips? Check out my fall and winter running tips. And let me know if you have any questions.

I runfess… I’m still on my pandemic run streak. Today was day 254. I’ve averaged over 6 miles per day. I’ve been thinking of cutting back the miles, but I haven’t yet. I’ve really enjoyed the miles – especially when I can catch up with friends. Have you ever tried a run streak? How many days did you run?

Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.

Have a great weekend!
