It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five. I’m doubling down and linking up with Marcia for May “Runfessions,” too! Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.”
I runfess… I’ve been doing my first ever run streak. Today is day 100. I’ve never done a run streak but since it’s the only time I get outside most days now, it’s keeping me sane and I’m going to keep it up for a while. Have you ever tried a run streak?
I runfess… I’m not surprised to see that the Boston Marathon is cancelled. I wondered in my March Runfessions if the new date for Boston would go on or if any large races will happen this year. I’m even less optimistic now. I’m finding people’s reactions to cancellations a bit mystifying. What were they expecting? Nothing has changed to make it safe or possible to gather in huge groups from across the country. Would you travel to a big city and run a race if no other factors change?
I runfess… I’m enjoying running some new street routes and found some pretty cool new spots. In particular, I’ve been loving Graceland Cemetery. That sounds weird – right? It’s actually 121 acres with a “reflecting lake.” It has a nice wide path so I was able to run with no stress and even got to “social distance run” a few miles with Stacy. That was awesome!
I runfess… I’m not planning to run any virtual races or distance challenges. As much as I love races and marathons, I’m not intrinsically motivated to push myself that way. I’ve also been running every day, so I’m going fewer miles and generally at slower pace to prevent injury. What’s your feeling on virtual races? All in or no thanks?
