Friday Five: Pandemic Runfessions

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five. I’m doubling down and linking up with Marcia for March “Runfessions,” too! Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.”

I runfess… in my wildest dreams, I never expected that I’d write the words that I’m about to write. I have a dozen races cancelled or postponed, the Olympics are postponed until next year and the Lakefront Trail is closed. It seems like a bad dream, but it’s true.

I runfess… running is the only thing keeping me sane during this home bound life. I’m trying not to panic about the lakefront closure. If I have to run around the block for thirty minutes a day, I will keep running as long as I can. Have you been running? [Note: 1st run post closure this AM – ran 5.8 miles on streets and through LP Zoo parking lot – no issues social distancing or with authorities. Phew!]

I runfess… it’s kind of cool to see so many people out running and walking. I would never have guessed there would be another running boom. I hope that it sticks! [If there are any new runners who need gear, check out some great sales at GoLite (get 15% off on full price styles with code ERICAFINDS) and sales and new styles at Janji or some deal sites on my Found Links page.]

I runfess… I can’t help but wonder if we’ll toe the line in any running races this year. I want to believe that the rescheduled Boston and London dates will be good and that Chicago, NY and CIM go on. It’s hard to imagine they won’t but also hard to imagine they will. What do you think?

I runfess… I’ve never been more grateful to be a runner. I can’t imagine how much joy I’ll have when I get to race again!

Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.

Have a great weekend!
