Friday Five: Pandemic Runfessions Part 6

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five. I’m doubling down and linking up with Marcia for September “Runfessions,” too! Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” [Here’s Pandemic Runfessions, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4 and Part 5– if you missed them.]

Running into fall like…

I runfess… I just love running in the cooler weather. We went to Michigan last week for a small getaway. The cooler temps and running at Warren Dunes State Park were the perfect pick me up! I’m excited for fall and winter miles. What’s your favorite running season?

I runfess… I’m still on my pandemic run streak. Today was day 219. I’ve averaged over 6 miles per day. I didn’t cut back the miles but I’m planning to. I was planning to last month, but now I may have to because I tweaked my back yesterday. I was able to run a few miles this morning for the Oiselle Womxn Run the Vote relay and am headed to the chiropractor in a few minutes for an adjustment! I must have jinxed myself. I did a review of GoodFOR Relief pain relief cream (enter to win some here) and I said “I haven’t had much pain in the COVID times.” My bad! Have you ever tried a run streak? How many days did you run?

I runfess… I tried the Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next % shoes that I was sent for completing the Media Miles challenge in August. I’m a believer. This is the training version of the Next % racing shoes that were all the rage last year. They come out on October 1. The good news is that I ran my fastest miles in months on tired legs and felt amazing. The bad news is that my hips have been sore all week and I think that may have contributed to my back tweaks. Hopefully, it’s not connected because I’d love to use them for speed training!

I runfess… I’m not planning to run any virtual marathons this fall, but I’m going to help my friend Denise with one here on October 11. Denise is a 100x marathoner and coach. She’s helping her trainees to enjoy the marathon experience. I’m happy to contribute to that! Are you doing a virtual marathon or real life marathon this season?

I runfess… I enjoyed Runstreet’s challenges in June and July and am excited to participate in the next one in October. Want to join me? It’s free and if you live in Canada, you might win some prizes from Clif Bar Canada. If you live in the US, you can get some training tips, motivation and maybe win bragging rights. You can sign up here.
