Friday Five: Pandemic Runfessions – Part 3

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five. I’m doubling down and linking up with Marcia for June “Runfessions,” too! Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” [Here’s Pandemic Runfessions and Pandemic Runfessions Part 2 – if you missed them.]

Back in my happy place – on the lakefront!

I runfess… I’m still on my pandemic run streak. Today was day 128. I’ve never done a run streak before, and I don’t know how long I’ll go. It’s keeping me sane and happier during this wacky time. Have you ever tried a run streak? How many days did you run?

I runfess… I’m happy that the NY Marathon cancelled this week instead of waiting longer. I hope Chicago cancels soon. I’m sad but I expected this. Now that I know, I can make other running or fitness goals. I wouldn’t have gone to NY if they had the race unless something dramatic had changed. I would have (and still may) run some long distance race in Chicago this fall but it won’t be the Chicago Marathon as we know it. Would you travel to a big city and run a race if no other factors change?

This part of the lakefront trail is closed for construction. Womp womp.

I runfess… I’m ecstatic that the Lakefront Trail and our parks are officially open again. I’m not planning to abandon my new urban routes, but I feel so joyful in the parks and path. It’s nice to see more friends out and about again, too. I’ve had some socially distant running dates and they’ve been amazing. Are you running with friends again?

Join me for the Super Wolf Challenge!

I runfess… I mentioned last month that I’m not doing any virtual distance races and that’s still my plan. I am participating in some fitness challenges. I’m about to complete Runstreet’s Run with the Wolves Challenge. I did “Level 3” which was 120 miles running, 1200 squats, 1200 push ups and 600 burpees in June. I’m well over on miles, squats and burpees and finished my last 25 push ups this morning! Join me for July’s Super Wolf Challenge. It’s only $8 and there are great resources and fun prizes.

I runfess… since I haven’t been racing, running long or traveling, I have a TON of extra Run Gum. Want some? I’ll send a variety box of Run Gum to a lucky reader. To enter to win, leave a comment with your runfession and tell me if you want to try Run Gum. Winner will be picked with random.org in order of comment on July 2. Winner must be a US resident, 18 years of age or older and offer is void where prohibited.

Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.

Have a great weekend!

PS. Don’t forget my great giveaways!
