Friday Five: Pandemic Runfessions – Part 4

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five. I’m doubling down and linking up with Marcia for July “Runfessions,” too! Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” [Here’s Pandemic Runfessions, Part 2 and Part 3 – if you missed them.]

I runfess… I’m excited to report that I’m testing my first running tour for Go! Running Tours next week. In case you missed it, I signed up with them pre-pandemic to create and lead tours for Chicago. I ran with them in Athens in November and they “found” me on Instagram. It seemed like a great fun way to make some extra money and to meet new people. Now, I’ll have lots of time to practice and can hopefully launch for folks doing staycations and US tourists when that becomes a thing. I’ll keep you posted! Have you ever tried a running tour? What’s your fave Chicago site or landmark?

I runfess… I’m still on my pandemic run streak. Today was day 163. I’ve never done a run streak before, and I don’t know how long I’ll go. It’s keeping me sane and happier during this wacky time. Have you ever tried a run streak? How many days did you run?

Listen to my episode here or download to your podcast app.

I runfess… I forgot to tell you that I was featured on the Rise Resolute podcast with Gina Meyer. Her episodes are about facing challenges and overcoming them in running, sport and life. I’ve been pretty fortunate but enjoyed sharing some of my lessons learned from injury, burnout and pandemic life. I also taped an episode of the Active Endeavors podcast with Michele from myEThree. It was fun chatting with her and Linus about running and life, as well. I’ll let you know when that one comes out!

I runfess… I’m relieved that the Chicago Marathon cancelled. I’m not built for heat and it’s kind of nice to skip the really long runs this summer. Now the only races I have on the calendar are a one miler in August, a half marathon in September (here that I expect to cancel) and CIM in December. I’m betting that one will cancel, too. If not, I can start training in September when the weather cools off. Do you prefer running in the heat or cold weather? Any races still on the books?

I runfess… I mentioned last month that I’m not doing any virtual distance races and that’s still my plan. I ran over 200 miles in July thanks to the Runstreet Super Wolf Challenge. I just got invited to do a run challenge with Nike Chicago for August and I’m doing a wellness challenge to support GBS | CIDP with Lynn. You can join us – it’s free and fundraising is totally optional (Team IronLynn) or support us here. Are you doing any virtual races or running challenges?

Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.

Have a great weekend!
