I always say that I’m more of a “blogging runner” than a running blogger. I do like to write about running, races and tips/tricks for running but that is not enough to call this a running blog – not even close! That said, here is my running recap of the third quarter of 2020. Well, like everything else 2020 this looks WAY different than last year except for a few things.
Like last quarter, I ran every day this quarter. In Q3 2019, I “only” ran 5 races but I trained all quarter for the Chicago Marathon. This year all of the races were cancelled and I did a few virtual “races” [read: runs] for charity. Virtual racing is not my jam. I did some running related “challenges” in July, August and September. I also tested out some running tours for the Chicago Go! Running Tours launch! More to come on that soon!
Races run this Q– 0
Current Run Streak – 224 days and 1506.8 miles run (avg. 6.7/run). Since before the “stay at home” rules, I’ve run every day. Partially because the gyms were closed for the majority of the time, but also because it was initially the only time I spent outside of our apartment. I don’t aspire to “streak” forever but I’ll likely be doing it until I get some other cardio options again. I’m thinking of getting a Peloton or similar for this winter. I was thinking that I’d streak through COVID, but that could be longer than we’ve been anticipating!
Miles run: 635 – which averages to ~6.9 miles per day. This is 57 miles less than last year – but not bad considering no races or long runs for marathon training!
Falls: 0 – whoo hoo! A few near misses.
Personal Records (PRs): 0 – no surprise there!
Star Sightings: 0 – no running stars seen in my neighborhood!
Pairs of Sneakers: 3 – Currently in the rotation Mizuno Wave Rider 24 (not my fave), Hoka Rincons and new Nike Tempo Next % that I got for participating in a challenge with Nike Chicago.
