I always say that I’m more of a “blogging runner” than a running blogger. I do like to write about running, races and tips/tricks for running but that is not enough to call this a running blog – not even close! That said, here is my running recap of the second quarter of 2020. Well, like everything else 2020 this looks WAY different than last year except for a few things.
For the first time in a long time (or maybe ever), I ran every day this quarter. In Q2 2019, I ran 8 races including a marathon and 2 half marathons. This year all of the races were cancelled and I don’t have it in me to run virtual races. It’s just not my jam. I did one running related “challenge” in June with Runstreet. The goal was to run 120 miles and to do 1200 squats, 1200 push ups and 600 burpees. I did 201 miles, over 1500 squats, 1395 push ups and 771 burpees. It was fun! I signed up for July, too!
Races run this Q– 0
Current Run Streak (new)– 132 days and 871.8 miles run (avg. 6.6/run). Since before the “stay at home” rules, I’ve run every day. Partially because the gyms were closed for the majority of the time but also because it was the time I spent outside of our apartment. I don’t aspire to “streak” forever but I’ll likely be doing it until I get some other cardio options again.
Miles run: 586 – which averages to ~6.4 miles per day. This is 12 miles more than last year despite not running more than 10 miles on a single day this quarter.
Falls: 0 – whoo hoo! A few near misses.
Personal Records (PRs): 0 – no surprise there!
Star Sightings: 0 – no running stars seen in my neighborhood!
Pairs of Sneakers: 4 – Currently in the rotation Mizuno Wave Rider 23, Hoka Elevons and two pairs of Hoka Rincons that I retired.
Running Stuff I Tried:

Races Planned for Q3: I may do a 1 mile race in August (but just writing that makes me woozy.) I’m signed up for the Chicago Half Marathon but I expect it will be cancelled. We’ll see!
