Ditch Dairy with Spero Sunflower Cream Cheese! #Giveaway

Spero was one of the first products that Instagram influenced me to purchase. I was served up an add for this sunflower seed based cream cheese in a variety of flavors. Since I avoid dairy most of the time, I was always on the look out for the best plant based options. I had found a few nut-based cream cheese alternatives, but none that I loved. I’m a big fan of Spero and have purchased it many times. I connected with them at Expo East and they sent me six varieties to try and share. They’re going to send a lucky reader a care package, so read on!

Spero’s founder is an athlete who suffered from migraines, IBS and weight gain. After seeing many doctors and trying all the supplements, she switched to a plant-based diet. The diet changed her life but she missed dairy. She tried the alternatives, but they were expensive and she didn’t like the taste. She set out to “make plant-based products that are delicious, accessible and affordable for all, and better for you and the planet.”  At Spero, they “believe in making it easy, fun and tasty AF to live a plant-forward life.”

Checking out Smoked “Salmon” at Expo East

Spero uses sunflower seeds instead of nuts as a main ingredient. They use 96% less water than almonds to grow and 97% less land than cashews. And they have only 1% of CO2 emissions than dairy. All of the varieties are made with 6 – 7 simple ingredients, antioxidants and probiotics. They’re keto friendly and great for people with food allergies.

Getting ready for some sampling!

Spero comes in 7 varieties with 5 cream cheeses and 2 cheese spreads. The cream cheeses are The Original, The Herb,  The Goat, The Smoked Salmon and The Strawberry. The new cheese spreads are The Cheddar and The Smoked.

Doing some head to head comparisons.

I’m a big fan of the Spero cream cheese and new spreads. My faves of the cream cheeses are The Herb and Smoked “Salmon.” Both of the new spreads are awesome. It’s hard to pick a favorite but I do love the smoked. I’ve shared these with friends and have gotten rave reviews. Lauren loves The Herb on her toast with spinach and tomato. Jeff also tried The Herb and said it reminded him of a beloved family recipe for herb boursin cream cheese. He also liked that he didn’t taste the coconut oil. You can cook with Spero and they have a ton of great recipes. I’m excited to try some this winter – I may even try some cookies for my upcoming cookie exchange.
