Q1 2020 Running Round Up

I always say that I’m more of a “blogging runner” than a running blogger. I do like to write about running, races and tips/tricks for running but that is not enough to call this a running blog – not even close! That said, here is my running recap of the first quarter of 2020. This seems like an April Fool’s Day joke to me, but it’s real. My usual March races (NYC Half, Shamrock Shuffle and Mile, etc) were cancelled. And now, I’m running solo. I did have some great running experiences early in the quarter so I’m sharing them here.

Races run this Q– 1. F3 1/2 Marathon in January.

Miles run: 564.2 – which averages to ~6.2 miles per day – though I don’t run every day. This is 4.8 miles more than 1Q19.

Falls: 0! See – it must truly be the apocalypse.

Personal Records (PRs): 0 – no surprise there!

At Nevado de Toluco (13000 ft!) with my Aire Libre run crew

Rave Run Spots: Mexico City, Nevado de Toluca Volcano in Mexico, and Santiago

Star Sightings: None.

Pairs of Sneakers: 3 – Currently in the rotation Hoka Rincon, Hoka Mach and Ends Lapatets (from Kenya!)

Races Planned for Q2: None. They’ve all been cancelled. Womp womp.

Brief Race Reports – I included a few “how I did” postscripts on posts that I wrote on race days. Here is a brief recap of the races I ran this quarter:

1. F3 Half Marathon, Chicago, IL – January 25, 2020

It was about 35 degrees warmer than last year. It did snow and was really wet but it was good all things considered. Michelle jumped in and ran 11 miles with me. I also made some new friends. I had a fun time and I ran four minutes faster than last year.

The Results: Net Time – 1:43:16 (7:53/mile). Overall place 269 of 1,534. Gender place 65 of 750. Division place 3 of 91.

How was your first Q in running? Please share in the comments.
