It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” Here are my September 2026 Runfessions.
I runfess… The first half of September was more summer than fall and it was tough going for me as far as running was concerned. I got in a bunch of long runs, a half marathon race (literally a personal worst for the distance) with a super fun 5K the next day which was a nice change of pace. I did decide that if the Chicago Marathon is 90+ % humidity like that half was, I’m going to skip it and cheer instead.

I runfess… Last weekend was a washout here, and I wasn’t mad. With the rain came cooler temps and I had two of my best runs of the summer including a 19 miler. The Ready to Run 20 miler started after a delay and was shortened to 16ish miles. I ran to the start and finished at 18.8 and then kept going to 19 miles. The 19 miler made me feel more confident about the marathon – so fingers crossed on cooler weather for the marathon in a couple of weeks.

I runfess… The merch is out for Chicago. I like this year’s Goodr “Bean There, Run That” Sunglasses. [I’m giving away a pair here if you want to enter!] The participant shirt is getting the usual bashing. I can’t tell if this shirt is pink or white and I don’t love a white tech shirt (TMI, but sweat stains). I think this is better than last year but it’s still kid of “meh” – what do you think?

I runfess… I’m excited for all of the people and brands to converge on Chicago for the marathon. Sadly, Arc’teryx Rush St. is not doing the shakeout this year, but I will be leading the pace groups for an event in Lincoln Park with Molecule (it’s a mattress company). They have a recovery lounge all morning and lots of good refreshments. Here’s the sign up link if you’re interested. I’m also leading a few run tours and have some run tours next week, too!
I runfess… I am enjoying testing out my Suunto Run 2 Watch. See my reel here. I’m excited to see how quickly it picks up the GPS at the marathon. I’m also doing a few other collabs for the marathon and one or two for NYC so stay tuned!
Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee and Jenn for Fit Five Friday. Join us!
Have a great weekend!
