It’s the first weekend of the month, so I‘m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date.
What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup, “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I am SO over the humidity we’re having this week and that I can’t wait for fall. If we’ve ever had coffee together before, you’d know that I’d be complaining about the humidity – it’s my kryponite. I’m hoping for a reprieve for my 20 miler tomorrow, but I’m not optimistic about it.
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you about the super fun time I had visiting Minneapolis for the Outdoor Retailer Show. I got in a day early and loved the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and running along the Mississippi River trail. For the show itself, we got to do a fun trail run and Adventure Race in Theodore Wirth Park. The adventure race was orienteering – not my strong suit but I did have fun and got awesome swag so I’m calling it a win! You can see the Sculpture Garden here and some of my finds from the show in this reel.
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I’m excited for fall and some of the fun things I have coming up including the Hidden Gem Half Marathon, Chicago Marathon, Open House Architecture Week, the NYC Marathon and a trip to Morocco. I’d ask what you have coming up that you’re looking forward to.
If we were having coffee… I’d ask what you’re reading and watching and what your favorite books, movies and shows have been lately. We watched Adolescence (Oof!) and are watching My Brilliant Career. Both were really good. I read One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune (fun romance but maybe a bit overhyped), Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz (a YA coming of age story set in the 1980s – very good), When She Was Ours by Anna Nordberg (a very good family drama set in the 90s) and I started The Measure by Nikki Erlick (very intriguing so far!). If you were unlucky, I’d probably complain about inflated book ratings on Booktok/Bookstagram, because I’m a GenX grouch!
If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I am almost done with my private swim lessons and I’m going to look into joining a Masters Swim group or class to keep myself motivated. I really enjoy the lessons and feel like I’ve made a ton of progress, but I still have a ways to go in getting myself to be a full fledged swimmer!
If we were having coffee… I’d ask “what’s happening by you?” Please tell me in the comments!
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee and Jenn for Fit Five Friday. Join us!
PS. Please don’t forget my great giveaways.
