It’s the first weekend of the month, so I‘m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date.
What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup, “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you had plans for the 4th. We have a few annual events that we attend here – Cake and Bubbles for Liv’s birthday (a party with amazing homemade cake and champagne as the birthday girl prefers) and a BBQ at Lance and Daniela’s on the 4th with a great view of fireworks from their rooftop deck. I’m also running 4 on the 4th – a 4 miler tomorrow. Likely to add to my “personal worsts” but that’s OK. It will be fun to see lots of friends and to participate. What do you have going on?

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that we went to a party at the Home Court at the Obama Center and I’m so bummed that I didn’t get advanced tickets to the museum. I have tickets for December 1. I am going with Sapna on a bus tour/outing to explore the grounds this month and that will be pretty great. Check out Becky in Chicago’s tour of the Center’s campus here.
If we were having coffee… I’d ask what you’re reading and watching and what your favorite books, movies and shows have been lately. We’re finished Veronica Mars and moved on to the last season of Bridgerton which I’m enjoying. I just finished reading Into The Blue which is mistook for a romance. It is a “love story” but it’s pretty dark and there’s a lot of sci-fi fan stuff which is not really up my alley. I read two booked that were recommended by BookTokkers I like This is Not About Us by Allegra Goodman and The One and Only by Emily Giffin. I did not like either one. The first was about family drama that maybe hit too close to home for me and the second was a cringefest.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you how much I enjoyed getting out in nature in Oregon for Heather’s birthday weekend. So much green and fresh air! Plus, I got to visit Linda and J in Portland and to meet my soulmate, Oberon (their 2 year old pup). This reminds me to get out of the city more often!
If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you’ve been following the World Cup. I have been OBSESSED with the feel good stories of US cities adopting teams – especially Lawrence, KS/Algeria. And I’ve been getting a kick out of Europeans visiting Costco/Walmart/Buckees, etc. Feels like we can travel the world with a bit more dignity now for being good hosts. I was rooting for Ecuador but now I’m rooting for US and Mexico. How about you?
If we were having coffee… I’d ask “what’s happening by you?” Please tell me in the comments!
