I love my summer Saturday morning ritual of run, coffee, farmers market. A few years agi, I received three Nanobags that I ordered in a Kickstarter. Nanobags are a ultra-lightweight, reusable shopping bags that can be stowed anywhere. I can even fit them in the pocket of my running shorts or handheld water bottle. I stow a few in my hydration pack or pocket and I can carry home all of my farmers market goodies.
The founder of Nanobag wanted to stop using plastic but found traditional reusable bags were too bulky. He partnered with another designer to make something that was easy to carry everywhere and of high quality to stand the test of time. Also, to make sure that the Nanobag contributes to helping the planet, they committed to plant one tree for every bag sold. This makes the Nanobag not only carbon neutral, but carbon positive.
Nanobags are made from ultra fine nylon threads woven into a custom made diamond ripstop fabric. These super thin bags tuck into tiny pouches with a drawstring top. Each Nanobag can carry up to 66 lbs! They’re washable and dry quickly. The bags now come in six sizes: Micro, Standard, Sling, Pack, Daypack (with zipper) and XL. They come in basic colors and fun patterns, too!
For my farmers market trips, I typically use a Standard bag or two. The Standard bag holds 19L and weighs less than one ounce! Since we walk ~2 miles home, I buy much less than I can actually fit / hold in my bags.
I always have these bags in my purse. They fit a ton and they hold up really well. I lug 5 lb bags of epsom salts and other heavy groceries and never have any issues.
