It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” Here are my June 2026 Runfessions.

I runfess… I enjoyed the Chicago 13.1 despite it being one of my slowest half marathons ever. The unexpected sun was a bit tough and I’m having a slow year so far. That said, I still had a lot of fun and enjoyed the crowds and impeccable vibes. And I’m grateful for my health. My body is still strong and I was still well in the top half of all finishers and nearly top 10% of my AG (by gender). It’s tough to be slowing down and not to compare myself to younger me and my friends. But, as long as it’s fun, I’ll still be out there.
I runfess… I’m excited to start training for the Chicago Marathon with CARA. I did the first run with my group from last year and will likely switch to a slightly slower group so that I can try more fast finish runs (or can hang on for dear life as the weather gets hotter!)

I runfess… Running the last mile of Joabe’s epic every street in Chicago run restored some of my faith in humanity. Everyone was so excited to be there and they gave out 100s of Chicago flags like he wore. I met up with my friend Berna on the way downtown and we chatted with strangers before the start. It was so wholesome and everyone wanted to play a small part in the completion of this goal. I loved how Joabe shined a light on the positives of many South Side and West Side communities and the kind people he met running in those areas during his thousands of miles run in Chicago.
I runfess… I loved running near Mt Hood and in Portland last weekend. The weather in the mornings was so much cooler. It was delightful – plus all of the trees and fresh air are a balm for the soul.

I runfess… I finally mastered this cool selfie at Willis Tower while training Kenneth, a new running guide. I also found some cool new vantage points on a run tour this week with Theresa from Ohio. I’m excited to show them off to some of my summer tour guests.
Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.
