5 Things I’d Tell You Over Coffee This May ’26

It’s the first weekend of the month, so I‘m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date.

What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup, “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

This image is tea but coffee culture is booming in London

If we were having coffee… I’d gab your ear off about visiting London and cheering for the London Marathon. Sue and I had a ton of fun running in Hyde Park and with Arc’teryx. We fan-girled like crazy at the Nobody Asked Us podcast with Cynthia Erivo and Erika Kemp (listen here) and walked around in Soho. We ate lots of yummy food and saw many friends. I witnessed greatness as I saw the World Record breaking men and women fly past at miles 13.1 and 22. I was a bit of a failure at cheering for my friends – IT WAS SO CROWDED. Super fun weekend! 10/10 recommend.

Tell me you’re in London without telling me you’re in London

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I’m excited to go to the Sweets & Snacks Expo again this year. It’s in Las Vegas instead of Indy or Chicago. I typically wouldn’t travel that far (even as much as I love candy) but my mom is there so it’s a two-fer. Also, I’m going to take her to Wizard of Oz at the Sphere while I’m there. It’s on her bucket list! Get ready for a lot of treats and fun pics from that!

If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you have anything fun planned for the summer or fall. I have Vegas then a girl’s birthday weekend in Oregon and then… nothing planned until the NYC Marathon. The Husband has a long trip in August so I may try to do something then. Any ideas?

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I did two running tours this week and that I love showing off Chicago. It really is a truly beautiful and interesting city. On Wednesday morning, we had “The Bean” all to ourselves.

If we were having coffee… I’d ask what you’re reading and watching and what your favorite books, movies and shows have been lately. We’re still watching Veronica Mars on Netflix (and it’s a ton of fun!) I read two VERY talked about books – Yesteryear and Strangers. Yesteryear is about a trad wife influencer who “wakes up” in the 1800s and Strangers is a memoir about a woman whose husband leaves her during the COVID pandemic. Both were excellent and very well written. The main character in Yesteryear was kind of despicable and Strangers was a tough read.

If we were having coffee… I’d ask “what’s happening by you?” Please tell me in the comments!
