March ’26 Runfessions

It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” We had another schizophrenic weather month here and I did a bunch of running in all kinds of gear. Here’s my March 2026 Runfessions.

I runfess… The weather was crazy here this month. It went from 50s to snow and hail and back to 60s and everything in between. I enjoyed all of the sunny days regardless of temps. And the first few 50 degree and sunny days were joyous (even if there were still patches of snow on the ground!) What’s the weather like by you?

I runfess… i enjoyed the 5K fun run at Expo West sponsored by Ketone IQ. We chatted with a ton of runners and got a fun swag bag. I’d say the biggest run related products at Expo were hydration products and lots of creatine. I’ll report back soon!

I runfess… I continued to enjoy not marathon training this spring. I’m interested to see how this translates for my half marathon this weekend in Philadelphia. I’m back over 10 miles but haven’t run 13.1 since December. My feeling is that I’ll be OK! I heard the course is kind of hilly, so that will be interesting. Luckily, the weather looks cool which always works for me!

Our Shamrock Shuffle crew!

I runfess… I enjoyed my first race of the year at the Shamrock Shuffle 8K. I will admit that I was a bit disappointed to fall short of my goal (to beat last year). I was about 20 seconds slower this year. It was quite windy so there were no mile markers at mile 1 or 2 and I thought I was going a bit faster than I was. When I got to 5K I was surprised to be a few seconds per mile behind my goal pace. That said, I felt good and had a lot of fun, so I’ll call it a win!

I runfess… There’s been a bunch of silliness on social media regarding NYC Marathon time qualifiers and running influencers lately. There was a sentiment that charity runners and lottery winners were not as worthy of a spot (and didn’t work as hard) as faster runners. Like faster runners “deserve” a place when other’s don’t. The weirdest thing was that this year’s NYC Marathon didn’t seem to have as many entries as I would have expected (compared to London or other years). The whole thing was ludicrous and so frustrating. There was also so much “outrage” over people getting medals at mile 18 of the LA Marathon if they chose to stop at that point – due to extreme heat. How does that hurt anyone else? Why spend negative energy on worrying about someone else getting a medal?

I love many of the runners that I’ve met via social media but sometimes it can be… kind of gross or exploitative. And… maybe I’m just old but I feel like some of these “kids” need to respect the people who’ve come before them. Have you noticed this?

Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleRenee and Jenn for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Have a great weekend! I hope the temps by you are how you like them!
