Tried it Tuesday: Opal Cool – Cool Products for Hot Women #Giveaway

As a woman over 50, I’ve been excited to see more discussions about menopause and women’s health as we age. I recently saw information on the brand Opal Cool on Press Hook. They make “Cool Products for Hot Women.” I reached out to the them and shared my interest. I told them was excited to see that solutions for women and women’s aging are a trend. And that I was keen to try something better than an ice pack to cool off. They offered to send me a bundle of products to try and share.

Opal Cool’s founder Tammy Lee is “passionate about helping women live their best lives. That’s why [she] founded this company.” Opal was created all women to “help, heal and honor our bodies through every stage of life.” These products are designed by women, for women with a focus on new moms, women experiencing menopause or MS.

Opal Cool sent me an awesome package of items to try. It included the Opal Cool Pad, Opal Cool Eye Mask, Opal Cool Cap, Gal Pals Set and the Opal Cool One.

Opal Cool products are made with plant-based cooling Phase Change Material (PCM). It’s specially formulated to provide cooling relief at just the right temperature. Opal Cool’s PCM  products maintain a consistent, comfortable cooling temperature. You can wear them directly on your skin with no risk of ice burn or frostbite. These are FDA registered medical medical devices. Learn more about the technology here.

It starts white and liquefies after use and then reconstitutes automatically.

I tried the Cool Pad for sleeping and resting. The 80° F Cool Pad feels cool against your hot body for up to an hour and refreshes to a cool state when not in use (no refrigeration required). It has no latex and is surprisingly comfortable against the skin. I like that I can fall asleep and then if I remove the pad, I can grab it in the morning if I feel warm and it works again immediately. This feels way better than ice packs from the freezer. You can even travel with it.

I’ve also used The Cool One. It’s Opal’s most versatile wrap with 58° F cool therapy. You put it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes and then can wear it in a variety of ways. It’s designed to comfortably conform and wear anywhere (back, hip, belly, chest, arm or leg) with adjustable straps for a compressed fit. It provides safe, soothing relief for sore joints and muscles, sports injuries, fevers, pregnancy pains and post-surgery recovery. You can also use it to cool off while seated at your desk or a meal.

Allison tried the Gal Pals. She said, “For context, I am currently breast feeding my 1-month old baby (my second). With my first baby, I had a lot of trouble with blocked ducts and used ice packs/heating pads a lot. I started using these at night (after the last feed before bed) and first thing in the morning, when I have the most soreness/discomfort. These breast pads are such a great alternative to ice packs! They stay in place, they’re fitted, and are comfortable (no poking from ice pack corners). When they first come out of the fridge, it takes a little bit for them to soften and get more comfortable. I also think these would also be easy to travel with – bonus!
