February ’24 Runfessions

It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” The groundhog said spring is coming early this year. That’s been mostly true here with a mild February except a few random chilly days. I have some good runfessions this month, so here goes!

I runfess… I’m still doing my run streak. Today is day 1,464. This past Tuesday was 4 years as I started on February 20, 2020 when we returned from Chile! I ran over 10,000 miles in 4 years which is pretty bananas. I’ve gotten a lot of questions on if I’m going to stop. It’s tough to stop for “no reason” but also tough to continue for “no reason.” What do you think?

I runfess… I’m excited to be able to share that I’m a Chicago Distance Series Ambassador this year. I’ll be training for and running three of my fave races – the Shamrock Shuffle (8K) on 3/24, the Chicago 13.1 (half marathon) on 6/9 and the Chicago Marathon on 10/13. I’ve run all three the past two years since they started the 13.1 so I can share a lot of tips. Stay tuned for training info, gear previews and more fun insider info! Check out my fun reel announcement.

I runfess… I did have a bit of FOMO when I saw the Goodr Flamboyance team (though I didn’t apply) – see why here. I am excited to be a member of the Salt Stick Sweater Crew, Friends of JoJe and a Kate’s Real Food Ambassador. I’m also working with Arc’teryx Chicago again this year, so I’m doing pretty well! What’s your fave fitness brand that you’d like to work with?

I runfess… I’m feeling a bit behind on my London Marathon training. I’m doing it for fun but I still want to feel prepared. I joined the CARA training group again last weekend and ran 14 so I should be able to get ready in time. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.

With Wendy and Megan at Miles Per Hour

I runfess… I ran my first race of the year at the Toyota Miles Per Hour. You may remember this one from last year. It’s indoors at McCormick Place in conjunction with the Chicago Auto Show. The clock timed race is 60 minutes with timing mats every .4 miles. This was the second year that I’ve run it. I made it 7 miles again this year which wasn’t too bad. I came in 3rd in my AG. It was fun running with and cheering for a bunch of my new CARA Racing Team teammates.

Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleReneeJenn and Zenaida for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Have a great weekend!
