It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” 2024 is here so I’m ready to hit the runfessional for the first time this year. Let’s go!
I runfess… I did not run outside during the coldest days last week. Saturday – Weds it was 0 degrees ambient temperature or less every morning when I woke up. I put on all of the clothes and ran .3 miles to the gym and .3 home and that was more than enough for me! I saw that there was a 6 hour ultra marathon on Sunday, January 14 in the suburbs when it was barely 0 degrees ambient and it was in a park preserve with no indoor shelter. Seemed nuts to me. What do you think?
I runfess… I signed up for the London Marathon this April with a tour operator. I got in off of the waiting list after being rejected by the lottery and the Abbott WMM secondary lottery. I was trying to run with a UK charity but that didn’t work out so I bit the bullet. I also signed up for Berlin in September so if these both work out, I’ll have one star left (Tokyo). I’m excited for London. It looks like so much fun and I really enjoy that city!
I runfess… I’m going to miss the NYC Half this year for the first time since 2012. I’ve run every year with Alexandra’s Playground. The date for Expo West changed this year by a week. When I worked out the logistics and said them out loud, I realized I’d have to skip it. So, I signed up for the Cary Half Marathon the same day locally. I’m bummed but excited to run this fun local race that I haven’t run in more than a dozen years!
I runfess… I’m still doing my run streak. Today is day 1,443. It’s tempting to see if I can make it to 4 years on February 20, 2024. I’ll keep you posted.
I runfess… I signed a fun race series ambassador agreement last week, but they haven’t said when we can announce it, so I’ll share it soon! I also applied for another fun running brand opportunity, so we’ll see if that comes through. Speaking of ambassador programs. I had a bit of PTSD when I saw the Goodr Flamboyance ambassador program is open again. Long story short, they contacted me last year to apply. I did. I was rejected with 500 other people via email. And everyone was copied on the email instead of blind copy. There were HUNDREDS of reply all emails and little compensation for sharing my email with 499 people. Still love the glasses. Not applying again!
