In 2015, Bess lamented the lack of good dairy milk alternatives. She and her friend Kate decided to make fresh almond milk for delivery. In Georgia, pecans grow abundantly, so it was only natural that they tried to turn it into milk, too. They discovered that the secret to “velvety-smooth,” healthy, sustainable, plant-based milk was right in their own backyards. Eventually, they made 9 kinds of nut milk and oat milk (before it was cool) in glass jars for delivery. Through trial and error, they developed delicious pecan milk in a slim can for wider distribution. They are committed to quality, flavor, transparency and sustainability.
Treehouse Naturals Pecanmilk comes in Original and Chocolate. Each serving of Original contains a handful of pecans lightly sweetened with honey. It’s creamy yet light and refreshing. It’s gluten and dairy free and contains only non-GMO ingredients. The Chocolate contains pecans, dark chocolate and it’s lightly sweetened with agave. It’s rich in flavor and heart-healthy fats for “a (relatively) guilt-free treat.” The cans are shelf stable and last refrigerated for 7 – 10 days after opening.
This is the first nut milk that I like to drink by itself. Both flavors work well in coffee. The original is a no-brainer and blends perfectly. I add a touch of cinnamon, too. The chocolate is not too sweet and it gives your coffee a nice mocha flavor! You can also use it in smoothies and a variety of recipes. I like the chocolate over ice after a run, too.
