Friday Five: 5 Things I’m Loving Lately – Fall Edition

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted things I’m “loving lately.” I can’t believe that it’s The middle of October and I’m getting solicitations for holiday gift guides. I’d better tell you what I’m loving lately before the month escapes me.

5 Things I’m Loving Lately

Watching the pure joy at Kiptum’s WR at the Chicago Marathon. I could watch this video of Carey Pinkowski’s reaction when he saw that Kelvin Keptum was going to set a world record. Pure joy! It helps with the post marathon blues for sure.

Right after the video in the link!

Picking favorites from Expo East. We’ve been working our way through my haul from Expo East and we’re enjoying many new finds, new finds from fave brands and old faves. Some of my favorites this year are Treehouse Naturals Pecanmilk (so good in coffee, too!), Purely Sprouted Almonds and Trail Mixes, Plink! Electrolyte Tabs, Lovo Non-Dairy Chocolate, Henrietta.Said Wing Flavored Peanuts and Jack and Friends Jackfruit Jerky. Stay tuned for more from these brands and others!

Connections in The New York Times Games. My brother and Dan introduced me to Connections in the NYT Games section. You get 16 words and you have to find 4 themes. Some days it’s very easy and others I don’t even get one of them before I make 4 mistakes. Fun!

My Chicago “Better than the ElGoodrs. They’re actually gray. I’m a fan and am excited to wear these on the regular. [If you missed out on these at the expo, I bought an extra pair. I’ll send them out for cost.]

Fall Flavors! I’m not a PSL fan. Sorry! I’ve been loving fun fall flavors. Two of my faves have been Lesser Evil’s Pumpkin Spice popcorn and Foxtrot’s [In a Foxtrot city? Chicago, Dallas, DC, Austin, Bethesda – create an account with this link and get $10 off your first order.]

And a few that I’m not…

The number of people who report being “disappointed” after running a personal best in the Chicago Marathon. I’ve said this before but as cool as it is to see people’s runs and races on social media, it sets us up for FOMO and comparison. I read so many “this was not the race I trained for even though I ran a PR.” Some of the PRs were ten minutes plus. Marathons are hard and they’re not linear. You never know what will happen on any day. Personal bests are meant to be celebrated. So are marathon finishes. [Steps off soap box.]

Our leaves are not changing and I’m scared that the rain will take many leaves down. Maybe it was the warm fall, but the leaves are just starting to change. I hope we’ll get at least some fun peeping!

There are other things of more import that I’m not loving lately, but those big world/life issues are too big to cover here today. What are you loving/not loving at the moment? Please share it in the comments.

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleReneeJenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Have a great weekend!
