5 Things I’d Tell You Over Coffee This July

It’s the first weekend of the month, so I‘m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. I can’t believe it’s July. It’s full on summer here in Chicago and I missed acclimatizing when I was in Scandinavia, so I’m trying to cram it in. LOL.

What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup, “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you about our trip to Sweden and Denmark. We went to Stockholm, a small village called Medevi Brunn for Midsommerfest and the on to Copenhagen. All three places were beautiful and interesting. We loved the food, people we interacted with, the history and architecture. All three places have lovely waterways or lakes. If these places are not on your bucket list, I’d tell you to add them! I’d ask what your summer travel plans are.

Bringing fika home to Chicago

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that in Sweden they have a concept that I love. It’s called fika. Fika is often translated as “a coffee and cake break.” It’s actually more than that and it’s mean to be shared with friends or colleagues. Part of it is the coffee and pastry and part is making time for friends and colleagues during each day. We embraced this on vacation and I’d like to make it more of a tradition at home, too.

If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you did anything fun for the 4th. We went to Mary and Brandon’s for a small cook out. We tested out some new tea cocktails from Owl’s Brew (the Black Tea and Pomegranate was the fave) with our appetizers. I also made a yummy, new salad from the New York Times Cooking section – Cherry Tomato and White Bean.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I had so much fun running with Lena, the founder of Go! Running Tours in Copenhagen. The Husband joined in the fun on a bike for the first time on our travels, too. I’m so grateful that we had that opportunity.

If we were having coffee… I’d ask what you’re reading and watching. I’m reading Up to Speed: The Groundbreaking Science of Women Athletes by Christine Yu. She’s going to do a Q & A with me on the blog, too, so stay tuned! We’re watching last season’s Great British Bake Off, the final season of Never Have I Ever and are planning to start The Diplomat. How about you?

If we were having coffee… I’d ask “what’s happening by you?” Please tell me in the comments!

Have a great weekend!
