Friday Five: 5 Reasons I’m Excited for the Boston Marathon

It’s hard to believe that I’m running the Boston Marathon in Monday. This is my 6th time running it, but it’s been over 15 years since the last time I toed the line. There are more waves/start times, a larger field and, of course, social media now. The latter giving more insider access to the pros and other runners.

Results used to come in the mail! Photo proofs, too!

It’s a victory lap! I know a lot of people try to go for personal bests or to get a Boston qualifying time in Boston. While I did get BQs in my first 5 Bostons, I have no pressing time goals for Monday. I trained well and should be able to qualify in the race. I’m going to try to do my best but really want to enjoy the run and soak in the energy from the crowds.

I get to see many friends and perhaps meets some online friends IRL. I have friends from all over the country, Mexico and Canada coming in for the run. I’m excited to catch up with friends and to have the opportunity to meet some online friends in real life.

I’m leading a shakeout with Arc’teryx Boston. Mandi and I are joining London Arc’teryx ambassador, Haroon Mota for a brief shakeout and course talk at Arc’teryx on Sunday at 10:15 AM. Here’s the 411 if you can join us!

The Husband is coming with. Sometimes I travel alone or with friends for races, but The Husband is joining me for this one! We’ll have a chance to see one of his close college friends while we’re there, too!

I’m going to try to embrace JOMO (Joy of Mission Out) instead of FOMO. It seems like there are a zillion events now with every brand hosting shakeouts and athlete meet ups. I’m visiting and having meals with friends and going to the Expo and Arc’teryx Shake Out. I think that’s it! I hope to see lots of people on race day/post race and look forward to enjoying seeing everyone’s star sightings on the ‘gram.

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleReneeJenn and Zenaida, for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Have a great weekend! Good luck Boston (and other) runners! If you’ll be in Boston, let me know so I can be on the look out for you!
