April ’23 Runfessions

It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” April is coming to an end, so I’m here at the runfessional again.

I runfess… The Boston Marathon course was MUCH tougher than I remembered. Granted, the last time I ran it (2007) I was 16 years younger and did most of my training in NYC and CA. Now, I’m a flat lander. All of that said, I had a pretty good run and squeaked in a sub 4 hour finish (3:58.53). Check out my race recap here and Instagram posts here.

I runfess… I’m still doing my run streak. Today was day 1,163. I had a surprisingly easy time of it the day after Boston, but the second day after was tougher. I’m still enjoying it so I’m going to keep it going for now.

I runfess… I’m going to run the Mountains2Beach marathon on May 21. I deferred last year and ran Grandma’s instead for my Boston Qualifier. I was thinking of switching to the half marathon but I feel like the training I did plus Boston puts me in a good spot to run the full. We’ll see how the next few weeks goes.

I runfess… I had bad FOMO watching the London Marathon. It seemed like a 26.2 mile party — in the rain. I’ll entered the lottery for 2024 AGAIN. Maybe this will be my lucky year. Probably not, but hope springs eternal! Have you run the London Marathon?

I runfess… Running Boston got me excited about racing more. How about you? If you’re in the Chicagoland area and are in shape for a half marathon next month, you can win a free entry to the Chicago Spring Half Marathon on May 21, 2023. They offered me a number, but since I’ll be in CA for M2B, they said I could give it away. Head over to my Instagram page and look for this picture to enter to win!

Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleReneeJenn and Zenaida for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Have a great weekend!
