5 Things I’d Tell You Over Coffee This April

It’s the first weekend of the month, so I‘m linking up with Coco and Deborah for the Ultimate Coffee Date. After a busy March, I’m looking forward to one big event this April – The Boston Marathon! Let’s chat about this and other April fun!

What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup, “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that the Boston Marathon is a week from Monday (4/17). It’s my first Boston Marathon since 2007 and the 25th anniversary of my first in 1998. Time flies! I’m most excited to see so many friends and potentially have the opportunity to meet online friends in real life. If you’ll be there, Arc’teryx Boston is hosting a shakeout run on Sunday the 16th at 10:15 AM. Get the info here.

At the top of our trail run!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I had a blast at the Flex & Flow yoga retreat in Sonoma last weekend. Mary, Maria Fernanda, Heather and I spent an extra day and a half exploring San Francisco. Then we met the group at the Westerbeke Ranch for the retreat. The days were filled with running, yoga, HIIT and flow, good food, wine and lots of laughter. Who could ask for anything more? Take me back!

If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you’d noticed that there are fewer jelly beans out for Easter this year. I had sticker shock when Brach’s jelly beans were $6.29 in Sonoma at CVS and the same here in Chicago. I saw no jelly beans in a few places so I googled it. Apparently there’s a pectin and starch shortage this year because of the war in Ukraine. First world problem, but it did make me a bit sad. On the upside, I have a new candy obsession. Stay tuned to learn all about SOW Good’s freeze dried candy!

The only time I’m happy to be in Times Square!

If we were having coffee… I had a blast running the NYC Half last month. Thank you to all who donated to my Alexandra’s Playground fundraiser. I raised nearly $2,400 and the team raised over $20,000! The race was cold and blustery and oh so hilly. I hit my “B” goal to qualify (by gender and age) for next year. More importantly, I smiled. A LOT! Check out my mini-recap post and reel here.

If we were having coffee… I’d ask what you’re reading and watching and what your favorite books, movies and shows were so far this year. I enjoyed Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin and The Maid’s Diary by Loreth Anne White last month. I’ve also been loving the new podcast Nobody Asked Us with Des Linden and Kara Goucher. I’m excited to read their books Choosing to Run and The Longest Race, too. What do you recommend?

If we were having coffee… I’d ask “what’s happening by you?” Please tell me in the comments!
