February ’23 Runfessions

It’s the last Friday of the month, so it’s time to join Marcia for “Runfessions!” Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.” February is coming to an end, so I’m here at the runfessional again.

I runfess… I’m still doing my run streak. I made it to 3 years on February 20. 3 years, 7605 miles, 5 marathons, 7 half marathons, 4 countries, 12 states later, here I am. I’m grateful to my run squad for countless miles and races and to all of my friends and Neal for supporting this little run streak. Never say never, I guess! Have you tried streaking?

I runfess… I’m excited for the NYC Half in March. I’m running with Team Alex again this year. Alexandra’s Playground is the charity that was started by my friends Andrea and Michael who lost their 4 year old daughter, Alexandra, in an accident in 2008. Alexandra’s Playground builds playgrounds and provides programs which encourage safe play in underserved communities. If you’re interested in supporting our run, here’s the link. (I’ll likely do a raffle for a $50 Athleta gift card for all who donate, too!)

I runfess… I’m also excited for the NYC Half because I had a strong first half marathon this year. I ran the F3 Half in Chicago. The weather was “perfect” (for me) at 22 degrees and no wind. I ran the first 5K with Wendy and smiled through to the end. My time was 1:46.47 (8:09 pace). This was my best time since the same race in 2020, so I’m hoping that I can keep moving in the right direction this year.

Maria, Olivia and me at Mile Per Hour run.

I runfess… I had a blast at the Toyota Miles Per Hour race at the Chicago Auto Show. This is the first non-track indoor race I’ve ever run. It’s a 2.4 mile loop through the McCormick Place Convention Center and two huge halls of the Chicago Auto Show. There were timing mats every .4 miles. When the clock hits an hour, you get credit for up to the last timing mat you hit. I made it 7.25 miles but clocked in at 7 miles at 57:45 (8:16 pace). I had run 16.5 miles the day before and started this off pretty slow, so I was happy with these results. It was also just super fun to try something new!

Flipbelt leggings!

I runfess… I’m love my new leggings from FlipBelt. Check out my reel for some fun testing video and to see all of the features. Use code ERICAAGRAN20 for 20% off of your order. Have you tried anything new lately?

Do you have any Runfessions? Please leave them in the comments.

I’m linking up with DarleneMichelleReneeJenn and Zenaida for Fit Five Friday. Join us!

Have a great weekend!
