I met Abby from Abby’s Better at Expo East. Abby’s Better makes minimal ingredient, peanut-free nut butters and nut butter snack bites. They have a variety of cashew butters, almond butters and pecan butters. They also make pea-protein enhanced versions with 10 grams of protein per serving. At Expo East, they shared the 6-ingredient nutter butter bites with me. They reached out to let me know that Birthday Cake Cashew Butter launched in October. They sent me some to try and will send one to a lucky reader – so read on!
In 2015, fifteen year old Abby Kircher started experimenting with making better for you snacks in her kitchen. Abby’s Better was born. What started as a way for Abby to have better for you versions of nut butters to improve her own diet has led to a booming business. Abby’s Better is “dedicated to creating healthy ways of snacking without sacrificing taste, using only nature’s already perfect ingredients to empower everyone to live healthfully.”
Abby’s has expanded from 5 original flavors to over a dozen. They offer an array of “sweet-leaning” nut butters and on-the-go bites in unique flavors. They are all gluten-free, peanut-free, paleo, non-GMO and plant-based. Almost all products contain five or fewer ingredients and are sweetened with fruit or honey instead of artificial sweeteners.
The newest flavor is Birthday Cake Cashew Butter. They recreated this classic flavor with less sugar plus it’s vegan! Each serving has only 3 grams of added sugar.
Sometimes Birthday Cake flavored things can be too sweet for me. I’m happy to report that this cashew butter is delicious and it’s not too sweet. It’s very creamy, spreads easily and it tasted great on my apple (and right from the spoon!) I’m a big fan. I’m excited to try this 6 ingredient protein bar recipe from Naturally Being Nat on Instagram, too.
