5 Things I’d Tell You Over Coffee This January

It’s the first weekend of the month and of 2021 (YAY!). I‘m linking up with Coco @ Running with Perseverance and Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner for the Ultimate Coffee Date.

What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup, “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

A 2022 intention.

If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you’ve made any New Year’s resolutions and tell you that I haven’t. I have some goals and intentions but I feel a better mindset for me is to start every day off fresh instead of waiting for a “reset” button. What do you think?

If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you’re planning any trips or if you’ve hit pause with Omicron. We still haven’t planned any international trips, but I have a run retreat in CA at the end of January, a girls trip to Miami for the Miami Half, am planning to reschedule a trip to see my mom in Las Vegas, Expo West and the NYC Half in March scheduled so far. I’m cautiously optimistic that these will all happen. Are you feeling optimistic or discouraged about events and trips coming up?

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you I’m planning to keep up my running streak through February 2022 at least. That will be TWO YEARS. Running is one of my only easy social outlets in winter and I still love running in cold weather. Call me crazy! I’m excited to try out and share some great cold weather running gear from Arc’teryx, too! Stay tuned. [If you missed it, check out my 2021 Year in Running here.]

If we were having coffee… I’d mention that I had so much fun celebrating my 50th birthday with my college girlfriends and many friends in Chicago. That was awesome. A week later, The Husband and I tested positive for COVID. I had a sore throat and only tested for travel to Los Angeles. This was before we knew that a sore throat was a key symptom of the Omicron variant. We had to delay our holiday travels but I still got to visit my in-laws and sister-in-law’s family and a few friends in California for a few days before the new year. I’m grateful that we recovered quickly and still saw family.

If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you have anything new brewing for 2022. Like last year, I’m hoping to do more with Go Running Tours in Chicago. I have a couple of other things I’m thinking of but they need more time to percolate. How about you?

If we were having coffee… I’d ask “what’s happening by you?” Please tell me in the comments!
