Friday Five: Reasons to Go to Summer Camp for Grown Ups

If you saw my Coffee Date post last Friday, you’d see that I’m at Camp Flex & Flow this weekend. This camp is put on by Flex & Flow (formerly Fit Approach/Sweat Pink). I survived my first flights since 2020. Natali and I were delayed on our connection but used Priority Pass to access the Air France lounge. That was very, very pleasant and Dulles was not too crowded. Anyway, I’m going to share the reasons you should take the opportunity to go to summer camp for grown ups if you have a chance.

5 Reasons to Go to Summer Camp as a Grown Up

1. To meet online friends in real life and to make new friends. In 2019 when I went to this camp, I met many online/blog friends in real life and many new friends. This year, I know about half of the women and have already been connecting with many new people.

About 3/4 the campers arrived for this pic!

2. To unplug and interact. This camp has better WiFi than the last one, but I’m trying to do less computer and social media time. I’m enjoying talking to people, working out and trying some new things. After I finish this post, the computer goes away (except for a little Spelling Bee action!)

Yup, that’s a deer walking by!

3. To get out in nature. We all need that. I especially need it after being in Chicago for so many straight months. Don’t get me wrong, we have Lake Michigan and tons of wonderful parks and gardens. This is next level… out in the woods type nature. We also have some lovely amenities like an infinity pool. Woot!

4. To learn about myself and others. One of the best things about this camp and this group is that it’s very diverse. The women are from all over the country, are a variety of ages and have very different backgrounds and experiences. There’s some fun sharing (icebreakers) and some serious sessions. All in all, we learn about each other and ourselves in a safe space.

5. To have time to do all the things. In regular life there are so many competing priorities for our time. Here, all there is to do was camp stuff. It’s rare to have the opportunity to “do all the things” without the guilt of missing other responsibilities. I’m excited for all of the fun for the rest of the weekend!
