5 Things I’d Tell You Over Virtual Coffee This April

It’s the first weekend of the month so I’m having some virtual coffee. I‘m linking up with Coco @ Running with Perseverance and Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner for the Ultimate Coffee Date.

What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup, “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

This blog turns 9 years old this month!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that next Friday this blog will be 9 years old. This seems so crazy to me. The time has really flown by. I’ll share some highlights and prizes from some of my favorite sponsors/ambassador programs next week so stay tuned!

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I’m going out to dinner for a friend’s 50th birthday this weekend. There will be three of us dining on a patio. I realized that I haven’t eaten dinner at a restaurant in over a year. Mind boggling! I was (mostly) joking with my friend that I hope I still know how to eat out. I’d ask if you’ve been eating out during the COVID times.

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I’m working on new running tour options for Go! Running Tours. I’m also training three new guides. I’m excited to work with Aaron from 7 on Sundays on some South Side tours. 7 on Sundays is all about getting people running in the community. This will be a great opportunity for Chicago runners (including me) and visitors to see and learn about the South Side. I’d also remind you that Go! Running has an awesome on demand strength (and live stream) training program with Olympian Colleen DeReuck – check it out here.

If we were having coffee… I’d ask if you’ve been doing any at home workouts. I’m checking out Chi Society – an on demand fitness platform from some of my favorite Chicago instructors. They have strength, cycling, yoga, Pilates, Barre and boxing classes. I love that the classes are 30 minutes and are on demand so I can do them when I have time. Stay tuned for a review and giveaway. I’m also doing virtual Pilates weekly with Maureen and using the Presence.Fit app, too. Pretty amazing for someone who never worked out at home before COVID. I’d ask if you’ve gone back to the gym yet and if/when you plan to.

If we were having coffee… I’d ask how vaccinations were going in your area. Wendy nailed it when she said trying to get a vaccine appointment in Chicago is like being in the Hunger Games. They are trying to help the hardest hit areas first with medical professionals, essential workers and people with serious health conditions. Illinois is opening up to 16 and up on 4/12 but not Chicago. Indiana is welcoming Chicagoans 16 and up now. So, it’s kind of a cluster! We snagged last minute appointments last Saturday at 10 PM for J&J shots on Sunday. I felt like I won the lottery. I’m excited as it feels like now we’re turning the corner in the pandemic – or a corner at least. Have you been able to get vaccinated?

If we were having coffee… I’d ask “what’s happening by you?” Please tell me in the comments!

Have a good weekend!
