Pandemic Runfessions – Part 10!

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up for the new Fit Friday Five. I’m doubling down and linking up with Marcia for February “Runfessions,” too! Runfessions are running truths or “where runners bare their souls and soles.”

I runfess… I’m proud that I made it one year and one week on my running streak. I am so grateful that my old bod held up and that I was able to run pain free (except a few days when I tweaked my back). I’m still at it. I think I’ll probably stop when I start training for races again for fall. I’ll keep you posted.

I runfess… I thought it was phishing, but I got an invitation to the 2021 Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Championships at 2021 London Marathon on October 3. I don’t know exactly how I qualified for this and if the London Marathon will be possible. If it is… we’re going (The Husband and I have never been to London together – believe it or not!) I’ve been trying to get a number for years. I’m sure I’m pretty far down the ranks for this one, but someone has to bring up the rear!

I runfess… I felt pretty badass for conquering single digit temps and massive snowfall amounts and running most days outside. That said, I’m excited for the 30s and sunny that we’ve been having. Bring on spring!

I runfess… I’ve dominated my company’s February step challenge despite the frigid temps and snow. I only used the treadmill in my building three times out of 26 days. I’ve gotten a lot of questions from my co-workers on how I average 20K steps per day in Chicago winter. My closest competitor has 3 small children and lives in Boston. She deserves the win just for handling that!

I runfess… I’ve been trying to pick up my pace after running most of my miles slower than usual in 2020. It hasn’t been easy. I hope my body remembers how to race when the time comes! I may try to get a pacer for the virtual Shamrock Shuffle to see if I can run closer to my usual race pace to test myself.

Do you have any Runfessions to share? Please leave them in the comments.

Have a great weekend!

PS. Don’t miss my great giveaways!
