I love supporting local businesses – especially when they make yummy, healthy foods. I heard all about Lil Bucks sprouted buckwheat cereal from a bunch of Chicago fit friends before I had the chance to try it. Emily sent me a sampler pack of all three varieties and some “Clusterbucks.”
Emily “found” sprouted buckwheat in a “life changing” acai bowl in Australia. She decided to bring this crunchy, gluten free superfood to the US. Sprouted buckwheat is actually buckwheat groats – a fruit seed. The sprouted buckwheat is dehydrated and ready to eat from the bag.
Lil Bucks are made in a gluten free facility. All products are gluten free and vegan and they use no GMO ingredients.
Lil Bucks come in three flavors with some seasonal options. They are Original, Cacao and Matcha. The cereal can be eaten with milk/mylk, added to yogurt, smoothie bowls and oatmeal or like overnight oats.
I mixed Original and Cacao with oat milk and some blueberries. I loved this crunchy combo. The Cacao has a yummy taste and it’s not too sweet. It has some cinnamon and a bit of maple syrup. The Husband commandeered the bag and that was the last I saw of it. He mixed it in with his Weetabix and milk. It’s the big winner in our house!
They also make a new product called Clusterbucks. These buckwheat granola clusters have Lil Bucks with coconut, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, cacao nibs and Reishi mushroom powder. The Reishi mushroom powder is a popular adaptogen. Clusterbucks are delicious. It’s a healthier granola option that’s low in sugar and a great snack.
