Race for the Planet with Charity Miles + Athleta #Giveaway

You may know that I lead a run club for Athleta on Tuesday nights. It’s been so much fun meeting new (to me) runners and running with friends. I’ve enjoyed the company and the fun perks, too. I also love being in the know about the great initiatives that Athleta takes on.

Right now, Athleta is sponsoring a challenge using the Charity Miles app. For every mile logged on the challenge from July 30 – August 31 (up to $24,901), Athleta will donate $1 to the Nature Conservancy. Why $24,901? It’s the circumference of the earth! Sign up here. You can run – indoors or out, walk or bike the miles.

Did you know that Athleta is a B Corp? They strive to use business as a force for good. They’re always looking for ways to do right by the planet. To this end, they just released a new run fabric, SuperSonic. For the launch, they’ve recycled over 6 million miles of scrap nylon yarn. That’s enough to wrap around the planet – 247 times!

I got a pair of the SuperSonic Lightning 7/8 Tights to try out. The material feels great. They have a nice compression feel but are not uncomfortably tight. They have a high waist, 2 side pockets, a back zip pocket and mesh on the bottom to let in some air. The material is sustainable, wicking, quick dry and fair trade. What else could you want? These fit like full tights on me and they’ll be perfect for late fall and early winter. I’m going to get some capris, too! They also have some fun patterns.

Want to check out something in SuperSonic from Athleta? Athleta will give a $50 shop card (like a gift card but with an expiration date and must be used in one transaction online or in store) to one lucky reader. Please use the Rafflecopter below. The giveaway ends on 8/6. A winner will be notified on 8/7. Winner must be a US resident, 18 years of age or older and the offer is void where prohibited.
