Plant based proteins were all the rage at Expo West. Ancient Harvest reached out to see if I wanted to try their new POW! Protein Pasta and Heat & Eat Southwest Style Quinoa. I’m a fan of their quinoa, so I said “yes!”
Ancient Harvest has been “cooking up modern versions of ancient foods” for 35 years. They were the first company to bring quinoa to the US in 1983! They’ve been working with the same farmers for all of these years and they’ve helped them to achieve organic certification, improve yields and implement sustainable farming practices. It’s been great for consumers and the communities.
Ancient Harvest serves nutrient dense, gluten free and organic products. They offer quinoa, Supergrain Pasta, ready-to-heat polenta, Ancient Grain Instant Hot Cereals, POW! protein pasta and more.
The new Southwest ready to eat quinoa joins three other flavors. Each microwavable pouch has 2 servings. It’s made with organic quinoa, coconut oil and all natural flavorings. Each serving packs 8 grams of protein.
I heated up the quinoa and paired it with fresh veggies. It was the perfect quick lunch that I needed on a busy day. I enjoyed the seasonings, too! I’m looking forward to trying the other flavors.
POW! Protein Pasta is packed with protein and fiber. The quick cooking elbows have 21g of protein and 8g of fiber per serving. It’s made with three simple, gluten free ingredients – chickpea flour, yellow pea flour and brown rice flour. That’s it!
The Husband made his meat sauce and the POW! protein pasta. The taste and texture of the POW! noodles was good. We noticed that they absorbed the sauce more than we expected. We’ll try to cook them a bit less next time. I found the the left over noodles held up really well. These are great for someone who needs extra protein and eats gluten free.
