Tried it Tuesday: Hope & Sesame Plant-Based Milks #Giveaway

Non-dairy milks were all the rage at Expo West. A local brand with an innovative concept caught my eye and they sent me all of the flavors to try. Hope & Sesame is a new line from my friends at deliciousness.com. Hope & Sesame is made from organic sesame seeds and contains a proprietary protein so that it has eight times more protein than many other plant based milks!

A cool thing about sesame is that it’s a drought tolerant, sustainable crop. It improves soil and uses significantly less water to produce than almond, pea, coconut or cows milk. Who knew?

Hope & Sesame is rich and creamy and has a light, nutty taste. It’s USDA Organic, Non-GMO. It’s also lactose-free, carrageenan-free, Certified Gluten Free, free of the 8 top allergens (except Chocolate Hazelnut) and is packed in recyclable BPA-free tetrapack milk cartons.

It comes in five flavors. They are Original, Original Unsweetened, Vanilla, Chocolate, Chocolate Hazelnut. They recommend that you start with Unsweetened Original and progress to Chocolate Hazelnut. These protein packed milks add extra protein to your smoothie, coffee or cereal. The Chocolate ones are great for smoothies and for kids (and grown-ups, too)!

But first, coffee (Of course!)

I started with Original Unsweetened in my coffee. I liked that I only needed a little for a nice creamy taste. The best thing for me was that the protein doesn’t have a funny taste like some plant based proteins. I moved on to Vanilla in my coffee – that’s a winner for me. I tried the Chocolate straight and found it to be pretty delicious. It would be great in a smoothie with banana, too! I bet it’s good for baking and in oatmeal, as well.
