Friday Five: 2019 Wellness Trends I’m Excited About

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five. I’ve been reading a bunch of articles about 2019 wellness trends. Here are some from Well + Good, Mind Body Green and Fast Company.

Here are the 5 I’m most excited about:

1. Continued love of cauliflower and other whole foods for good health. At Expo West and Expo East this year, cauliflower was the “it” food this year. I’m a huge fan of roasted cauliflower and all of the pizzas, baked goods and rices. I’m loving all of the better for you products being made with real food.

2. CBD everything. I’ve received a ton of CBD and hemp products from my relationship with the New Hope Network and Expo East. I’ll be honest, I haven’t tried many of the products and have passed them along to others. That said, some friends I trust have told me to get on the bandwagon. I’m very interested in the natural anti-inflammatory properties, relaxation and better sleep. Stay tune for reviews (and sharing) of CBD products from Restorative Botanicals and CBD Living!

3. More help for better sleep. I’ve always been a light sleeper and tend to struggle to stay asleep and to get high quality sleep. I’m excited for new high tech and low tech methods to improve sleep. I want to incorporate some of these techniques into my life in the year ahead.

4. Even better plant based products including awesome “milks.” I eat limited dairy, so I’ve been loving that plant based milks and cheeses keep getting better and better. Oat milk was 2018’s darling. I’m a fan.

5. A focus on recovery. The past few years have shined a light on the need for recovery in athletics. I’ve never been great at rest days or low impact, but have incorporated Pilates and some yoga into my routine.

I had the opportunity to try StretchLab this week. StretchLab is an assisted stretching studio. They have individual stretching sessions and group stretching classes. They say that stretching helps muscles recover and can improve your fitness. It certainly feels good! Check out their $29 intro session here. Not in Chicago? Look for a StretchLab near you.

What health and wellness trends are you looking forward to in 2019?

Have a great weekend!
