Tried It Tuesday: Nui Cookies #Giveaway

I don’t follow a specific diet but I love to keep up with the trends. When the folks a from Nui (formerly Keto Cookies) asked me if I wanted to try their cookies, I said “why not?” The ketogenic diet is super popular right now. It’s a high fat, low carb diet. Get the 411 here from my friends at Women’s Health. As a runner, I love my carbs, but I also like to check out what’s new and keep an open mind.

The guys from Nui lost weight and found energy on the “keto” diet. They had a tough time finding low sugar cookies that they liked, so they made their own. They got such positive feedback that they decided to sell them.

Nui Cookies are gluten free and have no added sugar or artificial sweeteners. They’re also low glycemic and contain no GMOs.

Not shown – Birthday Cake

Nui Cookies come in five flavors. They are Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Cinnamon Snickerdoodle and (new) Birthday Cake. They sent me samples of the original four to try and share.

Taste testing

I tried Chocolate Chip and Double Chocolate and gave some to Sierra to try. The texture is firm but crumbly. Sierra said it reminded her of a shortbread. The flour is almond flour and there is coconut oil and grass-fed butter in them so they are rich. They’re remarkably sweet despite having no added sugar.

Sierra and I both enjoyed the Chocolate Chip. She said, “The chocolate chips tasted like high quality dark chocolate. Despite using nut flour and coconut, I didn’t pick up on those flavors. I would definitely buy the Chocolate Chip!” I liked the Double Chocolate, too.  Sierra found the Snickerdoodle to be very sweet and preferred the Chocolate Chip. They say that Peanut Butter is the fan favorite. I still have to try that one!

These cookies are rich and I felt satisfied after one. The serving size is 2 cookies for ~250 calories. This is a great treat for folks following a keto diet – or not! I enjoyed them, too. I like that I only needed to eat one and didn’t reach for a second. That’s a win for me.
