Five Things Friday v. 2

It’s Friday, so I’m linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five 2.0. In the new format, we have no suggested themes. I’ve been struggling to decide what to blog about this week, so I’m just going to tell you “five things.”

1. For the first time in many, many months, I have no plane tickets or reservations. If you’ve been around here, you know that I’ve been traveling most weeks since February. It’s been nice being home this week and not having to manage travel logistics for work or fun. I do have some plans this summer that will require travel but am enjoying being “home free” for the moment. I’ll admit, it does feel pretty strange!

2. I’ve been tempted to reply to the zillions of Father’s Day emails I’ve received. Like you, I’ve gotten tons of emails telling me what my dad wants for Father’s Day. My dad passed away in 2008. Every year, I cringe at the “Your dad will LOVE this [insert product here].” I also laugh a little, because the sites I’m subscribed to do not sell things that my dad would have wanted. My dad was not into fitness and health or travel, but you never know, I guess!

Anyone notice the “new” Fearless Flyer?

3. I love to try new things, but I have a hard time accepting changes to things I like. This is not a deep one. I received my Trader Joe’s Fearless Flyer. It’s color, larger, no longer on newsprint and only 4 pages. I’m not going to lie, I’m feeling a bit sad about this change.

Yikes! This is not looking good!

4. We’ve had strange, cool, foggy weather, but a heat wave is coming this weekend. On Monday, I went out to lunch with a friend and needed a jacket. This weekend, it’s expected to be in the mid-90s. I don’t know about you, but I’m not built for heat. There’s a 5K on Sunday that I’ve always wanted to run. I’ll let you know if I make it to the start. It’s not looking good.

5. Last Friday during Sweatworking Week, I went to a “Connections” breakfast. The concept was super simple. There were three numbers on our name tags and three discussion topics. At the start of each 10 minute session, you found someone with a corresponding number and you talked about the topic. The topics were not controversial. They were career, dream job/passion and travel. After a stressful work week, this was just what the doctor ordered. Never underestimate the power of connecting with people in real life.

I hope that you have a great weekend and that we don’t melt!

PS. Don’t forget my great giveaways!
