In 2014, I found The Yes Bar. If you weren’t around here then, I’ll tell The Yes Bar story. Food allergies and sensitivities can lead to a lot of “NOs.” Abigail, the mom behind “The Yes Bar” faced this issue several years ago. Her younger son had many food sensitivities and a few health challenges. She found herself constantly having to say “no” to things he wanted to eat. It upset her and and she vowed to “whip up a treat so delicious, and so healthy that anytime he asked for one, [she] would be able to say a resounding YES!”
She started with a bunch of all natural foods with no gluten, dairy, soy or corn. She used nuts, seeds, coconut butter, hemp, chia and more. She experimented for months until the bars were perfected. Her son loved them and so did her husband, his cycling buddies and everyone else who tried them. The Yes Bar was born!
The Yes Bars are grain free, paleo friendly, free of dairy, soy and have no-GMOs. Every single ingredient in the bars is a real food. There are over 20 ingredients in each bar. There are no binders, preservatives or fillers of any kind.
The original flavors were Macadamia Chocolate Chip and Mocha Cayenne. They both have 200 calories and are really delicious. I like both flavors a lot, but if I had to pick, I would say try Mocha Cayenne for something different. It has a nice kick and is really satisfying. That said, the Macadamia Chocolate Chip is a bit more of a decadent treat, even though it’s really good for you. Go with your mood – spicy or sweet. They say (and I agree) that “The Yes Bar is totally yummy. Totally good for you.”
The two new flavors are Black Sesame Sea Salt and Strawberry Coconut. The Black Sesame Sea Salt has toasted sesame, hand harvested sea salt, Japanese nori and a hint of honey. It’s savory and a bit sweet from the honey. It’s my new favorite by a land slide! It’s very unique and delicious. The Strawberry Coconut is also very tasty. It is sweeter but it has a balanced flavor with a bit of sea salt, too. The texture of these two bars is more like a cookie than an energy bar which made me happy.
