Friday Five: 5 Things That Made Me Smile This Week

It’s Friday, so I am linking up with Courtney at Eat, Pray, Run DC, Cynthia at You Signed Up for What and Mar at Mar on the Run for their weekly linkup. Each week they pick a theme and bloggers join in and link up. This year instead of specific themes, they are letting us be creative with broad themes for each week of the month. This is a “free” week. I am going to go with “5 Things That Made Me Smile This Week.” When I was new to Instagram, I did the 100 happy days challenge and I loved it. I recently looked back at it and realized that it is good for my spirits to look for happy things each and every day. I highly recommend it! So here goes:

1. This sunrise. Monday morning I met Abby for a track workout. I had to race to get there because… the internet. I took an awesome sunrise pic out the window, but this view greeted me when I got to the lakefront path. It was so amazing. It was worth the extra speed to get to the track on time. Plus, I started my week with a great work out and great company. A nice way to start the week for sure. This is where I live! I am so lucky and grateful for the view and joy it brings me.

2. “Donuts” that taste great and are good for you – for real! I forgot that I ordered these Ello Raw Cinnamon Sugar Donuts and they are unbelievably delicious. Somehow they take cashews, walnuts, dates, cinnamon, nutmeg and coconut crystals and make magic. Seriously – delicious. I told them so and Instagrammed and Becky wrote me back so keep an eye out for a review and giveaway. Can’t wait? Use the code ericafinds for 15% off of your order. You’re welcome.

3. The Wednesday morning run crew made Molly’s maternity bucket list. For the past few years, season after season, week after week, a group of us have been meeting for Wednesday morning runs. There are more than a dozen of us. Sometimes, we have only one or two takers, and sometimes a larger group. Typically, we are joined by northsiders only. Molly is on maternity leave and she lives near the 606. She mentioned that coming on a Wednesday run was on her “maternity leave bucket list.” I didn’t know she had one but I was delighted to be on it! We had a nice run on a beautiful morning!

4. I tried Mortar and Pestle and took a good food photo! My boss was in town and we got to try Mortar and Pestle. It is a new breakfast/lunch only restaurant in my neighborhood. It. was. delicious. Plus, I took an appealing food photo which is a first for me. Even Sapna approved! And she is a pro!

5. The clouds looked like a pterodactyl! Can you see it on the bottom? Totally random, but I love finding shapes in clouds and enjoying them as they change. Easy and free. Right?
