Tried It Tuesday: Grav-Gear Hydration Belt #Giveaway

It is tougher to stay hydrated in Chicago in the winter as the water fountains are off. Also, carrying water in freezing temps can be a tough proposition. Even though we may feel less thirsty in winter, it is still important to drink fluids on the run. Some of the gals and I are training for the LA Marathon on 2/14, so that means that there will be plenty of freezing cold long runs. I had the opportunity to try a Grav-Gear Hydration Belt through my relationship with Tomoson so I grabbed it and ran with it. Pun intended. The nice folks at Grav-Gear also offered a code for one lucky reader to get a Grav-Gear belt from Amazon at no cost, too!

The Grav-Gear Hydration belt has two 9 oz marked bottles and a nice big zip pouch.

The features of the Grav-Gear Hydration Belt are:

  • Easy access to up to 18 oz of water/sports drink at your hip (two 9 oz bottles) with secure cords to limit bouncing.
  • Lightweight neoprene material limits chafing.
  • Large water resistant pouch that can hold a large phone (even with case – see my iPhone 6 in case above), energy bars, keys, etc.
  • Specially designed headphone seal to listen to your music/podcasts on your device.
  • High visibility reflectors on the back strap.
  • Bib holders.

I tried the Grav Gear belt on a freezing, rainy day. I had a blogger fail as I did not take pics of the belt on me. When I came home I was way too wet! That said, I ran 14+ miles with two full 9 oz bottles. The pouch was very comfortable and kept my iPhone 6 dry (when everything else on me was drenched.) I did not get any chafing and had no issues getting the water in and out while moving. It was great that I did not have to stop moving because it was way too cold and messy for that! The straps are one size fits all so there is quite a bit of extra for me. There was no issue with them but I may cut them down. The bib holders are kind of long, so I tied them up (and may take them off, as well, as I would be unlikely to use them.)

All in all, this is a great belt for long runs when water is not available. It is comfortable, easy to wear and to carry enough water, fuel and a phone. The belt retails for $39.95 but is currently on sale at Amazon for $18.95 and is Prime eligible. This is a great holiday gift for the long distance runner in your life!

You don’t have to take my word for it. The nice folks at Grav-Gear have offered one lucky reader a free Grav-Gear belt from Amazon. Please use the Rafflecopter below to enter. The giveaway runs through Saturday, December 12th. A winner will be selected and notified on Sunday, December 13th.
