I met the folks from Toosum at Expo West and again at Chicago Sweets and Snacks. They make delicious 100 calorie oatmeal based superfood bars. Toosum bars are great for kids and grown ups, too. The bars are all natural, gluten free, non-GMO and low in sugar. They’re filled with superfoods like chia, coconut, acai berries and blueberries.
Their name, Toosum, is a play on the word “toothsome” which means “temptingly tasty and delicious.” They say, “once you take a bite of your first Toosum bar, we think you’ll agree the name is just perfect.” They set out to make a healthy, satisfying snack bar that was nutritious AND delicious. They’ve done it!
Toosum bars come in four flavors. They are Cranberry & Acai, Cherry & Plum, Coconut & Banana and Blueberry & Greek Yogurt. Three flavors are vegan and Blueberry & Greek Yogurt is vegetarian. Toosum bars are super tasty with breakfast or as a snack. They go well with coffee. I also like them pre-run, too. The bars are surprisingly filling, not too sweet and sit well with me for exercise. I love the size of these bars and the fact that you can see the superfood ingredients. The bars are great for lunch boxes or lap top bags when you just need a little something to tide you over. I like all of the flavors but Cherry & Plum is my favorite.
