Ultimate Coffee Date – July

Ultimate-Coffee-Date-Badge-e1416682466503Welcome to the 7th Ultimate Coffee Date link up of 2016. Can it really be July already?? Half the year is behind us. Wow! I‘m linking up again with Coco @ Running with Perseverance, Lynda @ Fitness Mom Wine Country, & Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner. What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup and “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

SF Summer Running
Yes, thank you, may I have another?

If we were having coffee… I’d tell you that I was just out in San Francisco for a brief work trip and I was so excited by their summer weather. I am getting ready to run the SF Marathon on 7/31 to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of my first marathon in 1996. Training in the summer heat can be a downright demoralizing sweatfest. After a mediocre May of running, June hasn’t been half bad even with the heat and humidity. Running Thursday in San Fran was a delight. I can’t wait for race day and my personal challenge to #beat1996! In fairness to Chicago, the last few days have been lovely and my 20 mile run at Waterfall Glen yesterday was a pleasure.

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I am happy that we are staying put and not traveling for the long weekend. My company gave us an extra holiday on Friday so it’s a four-day weekend for me! I enjoyed the extra day with lunch at the East Bank Club with Kimberly followed by a visit to Christy‘s Haptic show with her walk through for her SAIC students. It was so interesting to hear her perspectives and her students’ questions. Then, I had date night with The Husband. What a great day! We have some birthday parties and a BBQ for the rest of the weekend. Plus, I’m planning to run 4 on the 4th for the first time on Monday. Our neighborhood always has a ton of fireworks to check out, too. Many friends and co-workers are traveling this weekend – what are you up to?

Great ready for some great new finds from Sweets and Snacks!
Great ready for some great new finds from Sweets and Snacks!

If we were having coffee… I would remind you to check out my recap of the Chicago Sweets and Snacks Show. If we were together, I would have likely brought you a bunch of new food finds to try. There were tons of healthy (and healthier) snacks on offer this year. There were many more organic and healthy snacks than in previous years. Get ready for some great reviews and giveaways. I am sharing some of the loot that I picked up as well as full reviews and giveaways of SuperSeedz, Perky Super Food Bites, Toosum Bars, Dick Stevens Jerky Mix and Lawless Jerky (GIVEAWAY). I also loved checking out some old faves and will share great products from some fave companies, too!

If we were having coffee… I would tell you that I finally saw Snapchat and Molly tried to explain it to me. Still totally lost. Do you Snapchat? To whom and for what?

If we were having coffee… I would ask you what you’ve been reading, watching and listening to. I listened to two totally farfetched books on Audible that were a ton of fun. They were by SE Green and were about a teen whose mom worked for the FBI tracking serial killers and she was a bit like Dexter. I’ve been reading some John Hart books and read this summer’s it book “The Girls” by Emma Kline. I enjoyed it but I can’t say that it was as good as some recent best sellers. What have you been reading and listening to?

That’s all I have for this month! What would you tell me over a cup? Leave some coffee talk in the comments!

PS. Don’t miss my great giveaways!
