Raise the Bar with Santa Barbara Bar #Giveaway

6xJRrMw7When I posted my new finds from Expo West on Instagram, Santa Barbara Bar commented that they were sorry that I missed them. I was sorry, too, as I noticed their new look, but had not tried their bars. You know I am on a mission to try pretty much every healthy bar and tell you about the best, so “missing” an entire company is a bummer.

Santa Barbara Bar kindly offered to send me some to try and some to share. Of course, I said “yes!” I received an awesome mixed box, tried all the flavors, shared with friends and have a set of five (one of each flavor) bars to share with one lucky winner. Read on!

Initially, Santa Barbara Bars were created as a healthy snack for friends. They say, “Finally nutritious tastes great.” The bars come in 5 flavors: Coconut Almond, Cranberry White Chocolate and Peanut Chocolate Cherry, Mango Lemon and Dark Chocolate Almond. All of the flavors are rich in superfoods like chia, coconut, pumpkin and sunflower seeds and more. The bars are certified gluten free, contain no soy products, no refined sugar and non-GMO. They also have 8 grams of protein, 4 grams of fiber and contain Omega 3s and Omega 6s.

I see real food ingredients. Hello, whole almond!

I shared some Santa Barbara Bars with Amanda, Kristin and Stacy and tried them, too. Peanut Chocolate Cherry was the crowd favorite. I liked the Dark Chocolate Almond as an afternoon snack. It seemed like an extravagant treat but it was good for me and is only 200 calories. If you like mango, check out the Mango Lemon. It is pretty sweet due to the dried fruit but very tasty and the tang of the lemon offsets the mango well. I also liked the Coconut Almond. Stacy enjoyed the Cranberry White Chocolate, too. She said it was sweet due to the white chocolate and dried cranberries, but once she got used to it, she was a fan. In the spirit of full disclosure, I did not taste the Cranberry White Chocolate, because I don’t like white chocolate and cranberries are not my favorite. I do like the cranberry addition in the Dark Chocolate Almond bar, though.

We are fans of the Santa Barbara Bars.  The real food ingredients stand up well on their own, so we think a few of the bars could be a bit less sweet (maybe less of some of the natural sweeteners?) We are happy that the bars have no refined sugar and really enjoyed the taste and yummy superfood ingredients.
