Tried It Tuesday: SLS3 Dual Pocket Run Belt #Giveaway

7492da3b6415d3d1bb8499fd1ba1aeb0_400x400Right after the new year, I was offered the opportunity to try a new running belt from SLS3. In their pitch, they said, “It is one size fits all and adjustable, which is great. It’s very low profile, yet can hold my huge LG G4 Phone in its case, and still stay for flat and tight my body with out any bouncing. It also has a second pocket for your keys, I.D, and anything else you can fit in it.” I like the idea of one pocket for fuel or items you will need during the run and one for items you need to stow like your keys, money or a phone.

Dual Pocket Running Belt features:

  • 2 Pockets – stretches to fit iPhone 6 (or even 6+) or other large smart phone.
  • Adjustable and “Bounce Free” – fits waists 24 – 38″ and is snug and does not bounce.
  • Lightweight and Compact – 1.5″ wide belt with expandable pockets
  • Water Resistant – Made with polyester with special stretch mesh gusseted pocket. The running belt also has a waterproof zipper for extra all-weather protection.

Kristin and I checked out the SLS3 booth at the Carlsbad Half Marathon. The SLS3 rep was a good sport and he posed for a photo and showed us the how compact the belt was and how the insides of the pockets are lined and waterproof. He showed us how large items fit, too. The pockets really expand.

You can see the belt on the left. It’s low profile (not noticeable on the right – pockets in back.)

I decided to wear the belt for the LA Marathon. I tried it on briefly but did not run in it. Yes, it was a bit of a 42nd marathon “rookie mistake.” Why? Well, I loved the pockets and the belt did not bounce. I put my GU and Salt Stick pack in one side and my phone in a waterproof sleeve and credit card/money in another. It was really hot. I had a long sports bra under my tank. The belt did not bounce but the sweatier I got, it did twist around. It worked great for the fuel and kept my phone and money safe and dry. However, I did get some pretty bad chafing on my back from the twisting against the seam of my sports bra top. That said, I will use the belt again with some body glide in some places and adjusted a bit tighter. That’s why we try things in advance – right!? Live and learn. I think the chafing was pretty much user error. Sad, but true.

The belt holds a lot!

This is a great belt for running or hiking when you need to carry fuel and your phone/keys, etc. It folds up really small so it is great for travel and destination races. I think the waterproof zippers and liners are really nice, as well.
