Tried It Tuesday: Bulletproof-ish Coffee with Wild Chocolate!

When Wendy sent me an article about Bulletproof coffee, I thought it sounded really disgusting. That said, I have been known to try anything once. I generally drink my coffee black or with almond milk, but put butter or coconut oil in it? No thanks! Well, like I said, I will try anything once and the folks at Wild Foods made it sound really good…

Wild+Chocolate+4oz+FrontI had the opportunity through my relationship with Tomoson to try Wild Chocolate from Wild Foods in Austin. Wild Chocolate is a “Mayan Superfood” that is raw, unrefined, unprocessed and unsweetened. Wild Chocolate powder is “a guilt-free addition” to your healthy diet. They say that you can “cook with it, bake with it or add it to your coffee, smoothies and shakes!” The powder is Non-GMO, Fair Trade, Certified Organic, vegan and Paleo. It also contains antioxidants, flavonoids (more than green tea, blueberries and red wine), fiber, protein, vitamins and bunch of minerals.

They suggest the following uses: hot chocolate, baking, smoothies and shakes or [their] favorite “blended into our morning Wild Butter Brew of Wild Coffee and Grass-Fed butter!” I was intrigued so I checked out the recipe.

I am not a huge hot chocolate person but was intrigued by the coffee mix and then checked out their version that was more “bulletproof” style.

I decided to try the following:

  • 1 heaping teaspoon True Start Performance Coffee (review)
  • 1 teaspoon Wild Chocolate
  • 1/2 teaspoon (ish) of Kelapo Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
  • 1 stick Lakanto Monkfruit Sweetener
Delish!
Delish!

It was a winner! The taste was rich and a bit coco-nutty but not too much. The Wild Chocolate is unsweetened and the monkfruit sweetener is mild. It was rich and satisfying. I won’t lie, I made a second cup. I was buzzing about all morning! I am going to try Wild Chocolate in my coffee grounds next. I will also see if I can make some no bake something with it. Anyone have any suggestions??
