Grab a Cup for the November Ultimate Coffee Date

Ultimate-Coffee-Date-Badge-e1416682466503I can’t believe it has already been a month since the last Ultimate Coffee Date link up! I thought I was late again but I am not! I was in NY running the marathon last week, but this is the first full weekend of the month so I am on schedule.  I‘m linking up again with Coco @ Running with Perseverance, Lynda @ Fitness Mom Wine Country, & Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner for the second to last “Ultimate Coffee Date” of 2015. What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup and “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

november coffee date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that… I had a blast in NJ and NYC for the marathon last weekend. See posts here and here. That said, after a month of weekly travels for work and the race, hosting a party and just generally being busy, it was nice to have a low key week at home. If only I could have slept better. Damn daylight savings time! Is it only me who has trouble adjusting??

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that… I came up with the perfect post-marathon blues antidote… I signed up for three races! Some of you may be sick of my running rambles, so I will make it short. I signed up for a cross country race, a half marathon after Thanksgiving and the LA Marathon on 2/14. So it is not over, it is just starting!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that… I am volunteering today for a huge race and I am a bit nervous. There are 40,000 runners in a 15K and 5K. I am a wee bit worried about getting trampled. I am a “captain” so I am managing two corrals and get to wear a radio headset and hold a bullhorn. Hopefully, the power won’t go to my head. Regardless, I owe a debt of gratitude to so many volunteers who made all of my races possible this year and every year, so wish me luck! I also woke up at 4:15 AM. Earlier than NYC!! And of course I dreamed that I overslept.

well and good

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that… I geeked out yesterday when meeting Melissa Gelula and Lisa Held from Well + Good NYC at the Chicago Fitness Biathlon fundraiser event for Girls on The Run. I pretty much admitted to being one of their super fans and original readers and wishing that they would have a Chicago edition (and that I could contribute). They seemed flattered and don’t worry no restraining orders were needed. I had to miss part of the event for Hot Chocolate 15K race run through, but I got to go to a great class at Exhale and the after party. So much fun. I got an awesome tote bag and some goodies. I am also trying an acupressure seed in my ear to help with stress – results so far are extremely inconclusive.

hungry root

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that… I am officially obsessed with Hungryroot. Hungryroot meals are all natural, locally-sourced, non-GMO, gluten-free and under 500 calories. These fresh, fully prepped meals are packed with fresh sliced vegetables, homemade sauces, roasted toppings and proteins. You just saute and stir for a “chef-designed” meal in only 7 minutes. I have tried the daikon noodles, turnip noodles, carrot noodles, almond chickpea cookie dough (raw of course because I never bake) and cauliflower couscous. Full review to come. These meals can be delivered all over the country and stay fresh for 10 days. Get 20% off of your first order with this link.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that… On a more serious note, there are plenty of negative things that people say about social media. This week, I saw many people rally around a blogger I “know” through blog/social media. She suffered a terrible loss and the outpouring of love and support was beyond amazing. It also surprised me how deeply I felt for her. I guess it is is easy to feel the joy for someone who you only know virtually when she runs a marathon, gets married, has a baby, etc. When one of these virtual friends suffers a tragedy, it evokes real emotions, too. Have you had an experience like this?

What would you tell me if we were having coffee? Grab a cup and leave some comments!
