May Ultimate Coffee Date – Live from Miami!

Ultimate-Coffee-Date-Badge-e1416682466503I can’t believe it has already been a month since the last Ultimate Coffee Date link up! Another year is flying by. I‘m linking up again with Coco @ Running with Perseverance, Lynda @ Fitness Mom Wine Country, & Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner for the fifth “Ultimate Coffee Date” of 2015. What is the Ultimate Coffee Date? Imagine we are having coffee together… this post is what I would tell you. So grab a cup and “listen” and then tell me what is going on with you in the comments, please!

If we were having coffee together… I would tell you that I hope you brought your sunglasses. I am writing from Miami! After the demise of our beloved Canyon Ranch Miami, Kathy, Lisa and I were able to find a weekend that worked and came down to check out the Thompson Miami. It is pretty awesome! Though not quite the fitness mecca that CR was, they still have a nice gym, daily fitness classes, a restaurant with delicious food and some healthy choices and a great beach. It is also on a nice boardwalk for walking/running. The run I did yesterday was surprisingly mild in temperature (for Miami) and pretty windy so I did not feel overheated. I heard it was warmer in Chicago and for the Wisconsin Marathon – where Finds’ friend, Amy, crushed her PR and her re-qualify for Boston goal despite the weather! Whoo hoo!

friends mia

If we were having coffee together… I would tell you that there is just something amazing about old friends. I love my friends from all areas and times of my life, but my college and high school friends just “get me.” I think there is something about shared history that makes things easy. Don’t you agree?

Blogger Perks in April!
Blogger Perks in April!

If we were having coffee together… I would tell you that the list few weeks were filled with awesome #bloggerperks. Like what? Well, last week I checked out a free class at SoulCycle’s new Chicago location compliments of Windy City Bloggers Collective; I was Sapna‘s plus one at The Brass Monkey, a new 70’s inspired restaurant in the West Loop; and I went to the launch party for Daiya’s new vegan, gf “cheesecake” line. It was so fun to hang out with Sapna, Susie, Erin, Sara and Lauren and to check out great new places and things. The week before, I went to Jewel-Osco to check out their new O Organics line and have lunch. I met Sarah (IRL – I already knew her online) and Samantha and enjoyed meeting the Jewel team, too! I will share more in an upcoming “Tried it Tuesday” post. You can see Sarah’s video about the new product line here.

If we were having coffee together… I would tell you that I decided to do the Brooklyn Half Marathon after all. Our friend, Emily, is doing her first half and The Husband agreed to come to cheer us on with her family. It is also Kathy’s b-day so it is a win-win. I look forward to tackling the course. The only other time I have run in this direction (they switched it since we moved), I was injured. It should be a pretty good course for me. Some hills and some flat. It will be fun to have the Husband with in NYC again so soon, too!

Simple Squares and Benefit Foods' VBarIf we were having coffee together… I would offer you some Simple Squares! I am an ambassador for them now so I have plenty to share. Stay tuned for more giveaways. I also would tell you that I met Amanda from Benefit Foods at the San Luis Obispo Marathon expo last week and tried her delish vegan, GF bars. Stay tuned for a full review and giveaway on those, too!

Earth Day surprise!
Earth Day surprise! SNOW in Chicago.

If we were having coffee together… I would tell you how excited I am for spring to have sprung in Chicago. I would mention that we had a flash snow storm on Earth Day. WTF?

What would you tell me if we were having coffee together? Pick up your cup and dish in the comments.

PS. Don’t forget my great giveaways!
