Tried It Tuesday: Nutritional Yeast from Sari Foods #Giveaway

You may remember that I was OBSESSED with the Chipotle Lime Nacho chips at RAW in Chicago. They are vegan. What made them so cheesy and delicious? I think it was nutritional yeast. So when I had the opportunity to try out some nutritional yeast from Sari Foods, I jumped on it.

img-product-yeast-lgWhat is nutritional yeast? Nutritional yeast is a versatile yeast that tastes like cheese and is full of 100% whole food-based vitamins and minerals. Sari Foods’ nutritional yeast is “packed with goodness.” It has nearly 50% natural protein (a complete bioavailable source) and over 20% fiber. It contains all 18 amino acids and 15 different minerals – including iron, selenium and zinc, natural vitamin B-complex and Beta-glucans. Beta-glucans are known for their immune enhancing properties. They say that many companies fortify their nutritional yeast with synthetic vitamins. Sari Foods does not believe in adding anything synthetic. This product is “100% whole food based and naturally occurring – just as nature intended it.”

They also say, “not only is nutritional yeast low in fat and gluten free, but some people also experience an energy boost after eating it!” Must be the B-Vitamins! This nutritional yeast is non-GMO, vegan, kosher, gluten free, dairy free and contains low sodium and no MSG. Good stuff!

I added it to my usual breakfast of butternut squash and potato! It made my go-tos even more nutritious and tasty!

How does it taste? Well, it’s cheesy! I don’t eat much dairy any more, so I loved sprinkling this on roasted potatoes, butternut squash and other veggies. I also liked it in eggs. They say that it is great on vegetables, tacos, pasta, popcorn, soup, baked potatoes, dips and in salads.  They offer a free recipe book with over 50 recipes, too! They will email it to you HERE. Here is one I like for Spicy Chickpeas.
